inauguration 2009

today's inauguration of president barack obama is a day that will go down in history as the day "color" melted away just like the wicked witch of the west in america.  i am proud to say that i voted for our new president and am anxious to see what his successes as well as mistakes will be.  the photo above is a mural that was done in brooklyn and is a great image to signify the change our new president will bring, and the hope that the beliefs of our generation might have finally made it to washington.

happy birthday sarah

today is sarah bechtold's birthday. i went to high school with sarah, and was in premiers and in pow wow for many years with her. she was an amazing person... she always had a smile on her face, she could make you laugh even when you thought it wasn't possible, and she gave the GREATEST bear hugs! in 2005 sarah took her own life. ever since that day she has been missed greatly by all those who knew her. this is a dedication to her for her birthday... love and miss you sarah.

trying to keep the peace

it's been a week or so since i took the vow of non-violence and it definitely hasn't been easy.  i have been making a consious effort to aovid violent comments, thoughts, actions, etc.  my biggest hangup is sarcastic comments.  for those of you who know me well, i'm quite a smart ass... proudly so!  however, i've never really noticed how negative my comments can be sometimes.  what the vow is doing for me is helping me catch myself when i make such comments and try to then make a positive comments or play the glad game as whitney calls it.  i definitely never thought i would be able to make such a drastic change overnight, but it is making me think more postively than i had anticipated!

i was just taking a look around the beehive, and must say that i am proud my blog is in the company with so many creative people!!  i am relatively new to the whole blogging world, but with help and encouragement from my two lovely sisters, jen & joelle,  i am discovering the wonders of blogging!  anywho, just wanted to give a shout out to the purl beehive and say that i love my new blogging home!!  xoxo
